Rajib Deyashi was born in 1977 in Howrah, West Bengal, and is a contemporary Indian artist based in Kolkata. He began painting at a very young age and grew up artistically within the cultural milieu of Kolkata. Rajib graduated with a B.F.A. (First Class) from the College of Visual Art, Kolkata, in 2004, an institution affiliated with Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, and is currently associated with the same college as an art educator.

Rajib Deyashi has maintained an active exhibition career for over two decades. He has held multiple solo exhibitions in Kolkata and presented an online solo exhibition in New York in 2020. His first international exposure came in 2006 with an exhibition at Ninas Art Gallery, Paris. Alongside this, he has participated in over 60 group exhibitions across Kolkata, New Delhi, and Mumbai, and has been part of numerous national-level art fairs, art camps, and special curated exhibitions.

His work moves fluidly between abstraction, figuration, and symbolism. Often rendered in bright, captivating hues, his paintings are meditative and spiritual in essence, drawing subtle connections to traditional Indian sensibilities while remaining contemporary in expression. Simplicity and calm form the core of his visual language, reflecting his belief that art should bring peace and joy to people from all walks of life.

Rajib has received several notable awards, including a Certificate of Merit from EZCC, Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2004), the Silver Brush Award (All India level, 2018) by The Eye Within, and honours from Rajya Charukala Parishad (2018), among others. His works are held in private collections across India and abroad, and two of his artworks have been used as book cover illustrations. Through both his practice and teaching, Rajib Deyashi continues to contribute meaningfully to India’s contemporary art landscape.
