Nayanaa Kanodia
Nayanaa Kanodia is an economist turned painter and one of the pioneering figures of L’Art Naïf in India. Renowned for her vibrant palette and whimsical visual language, she has established a distinctive artistic identity as a master colourist with strong individualism.
Her extensive exhibition career spans numerous solo and group shows in India and internationally. She is the first Indian artist to have her work exhibited at the prestigious Musée International d’Art Naïf, Paris, marking a significant milestone in the field of naïve art. Her innovative techniques have also been presented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, reinforcing her global stature. Nayanaa’s international recognition includes her feature in Women in Art by Reinhard Fuchs and her selection, from across Commonwealth countries, for a solo exhibition at a newly renovated complex in London.
Beyond exhibitions, her socially resonant works have been used as educational tools in schools in Los Altos, USA, reflecting the depth and accessibility of her visual narratives. Recently, she was appointed as a juror for the PrismaArt Prize, Rome, becoming the first Indian to serve on its panel—an honour of international significance.
Deeply committed to education and social causes, Nayanaa actively engages with charitable organisations, conducts workshops, delivers lectures, and serves as a jury member for major art competitions. Her participation in art camps spans India and global centres including London, Sweden, Italy, Moscow, Greece, Bangkok, and Cambodia. Characterised by flat, luminous surfaces, intricate patterns, and a playful spirit, her work blends whimsy with incisive social commentary, inviting viewers into a vibrant dialogue on life and its deeper truths.
