Nawal kishore

Nawal Kishore, born on March 17, 1977, in Rampur (U.P.), is a distinguished artist who has made significant contributions to the Indian art scene. He completed his B.F.A. in 2000 and M.F.A. in 2004 from the College of Arts & Crafts in Lucknow, U.P., and also undertook an Art Appreciation course from the State Museum, Lucknow, in 1999.

He worked on a Research Grant from Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, at the Garhi art studio in 2001-02. Over the years, Nawal Kishore has actively participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions, including AIFACS (New Delhi), S. Lalit Kala Akademi (Lucknow), Lalit Kala Akademi (New Delhi), Indian Academy of Fine Arts (Amritsar), and many more. His solo exhibitions span renowned venues like Lalit Kala Akademi (New Delhi & Lucknow), Gallery Art Project (New Delhi, 2019), India Art Festival (New Delhi, 2017), and JS Art Gallery (Mumbai, 2014).

His artwork has been exhibited in various group shows across India and abroad, including locations such as Singapore, Dubai, the U.S., and even at the Presidential House in New Delhi. Nawal Kishore’s work was also featured in an auction at Art Bangalore in 2012, organized by Christel House.

He has participated in numerous artist camps and workshops, including those organized by the Ministry of Art & Culture, Jammu & Kashmir, and the National Art Festival by Lalit Kala, New Delhi. Furthermore, he has been the curator for several art exhibitions and camps, including the Regional Art Exhibition (UP) by S. Lalit Kala Akademi in 2013 and 2018.

Among his accolades are the Jr. Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture (India) from 2016-2018, the City Award in 2017, and the M.F. Hussain Award from Prafulla Dhanukar Arts Trust (Mumbai) in 2016. He also received multiple All India Awards, including in Drawing and Watercolor from AIFACS (New Delhi) in 2013 and 2011, respectively.

His paintings are part of several government offices and private collections, including institutions like the S. Lalit Kala Akademi, AIFACS, Sahitya Kala Akademi, and the Slovak Republic Embassy, New Delhi. Notable private collectors include figures such as actress Jayaprada, Union Minister Amit Shah, and IPS officer Deepak Mishra, among others.

Nawal Kishore has also made his mark in the academic field, serving as the Head of Department (HOD) at Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University, Lucknow & Noida from 2004 to 2008.
