Chandan Roy, Leela, Bronze, 15 x 14 x 6 Inches

Chandan Roy was born in 1959 and is a practicing Indian sculptor, best known for his mastery in bronze and his extensive experience in the construction of monumental, large-scale works. With a strong presence in India’s contemporary sculpture movement, he has participated in numerous significant group exhibitions across major cultural centres.

In Kolkata, his works have been showcased at prominent venues including the Academy of Fine Arts, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Chemold Art Gallery, Emami Chisel Art Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi, Town Hall, and open-air sculpture exhibitions organised by the Calcutta Port Trust. In New Delhi, he has exhibited at Lokayat Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, Lalit Kala Akademi, Pioneer Art Gallery, PHD House, and Art Konsult. His Mumbai exhibitions include Jehangir Art Gallery, Bajaj Art Gallery, Artists Centre, Point of View, and Art for Concern, along with presentations in Hyderabad at Chitramayee State Gallery of Art.

Roy held a solo exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, in 2009 and participated in the National Metal Casting Camp in Imphal organised by Lalit Kala Akademi. He is currently associated as a working artist with Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata, and is an active member of the Calcutta Sculpture community, continuing his sustained contribution to Indian contemporary sculpture.
