ANKIT PATEL
Ankit Patel was born in 1957 in Surat and is a contemporary Indian sculptor known for his flowing, modernist forms. He holds a post-diploma in Creative Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. His work reflects a dynamic interplay of vertical, horizontal, and circular elements, imbuing his figures with rhythm, balance, and a sense of life rooted in the language of high modernism.
His artistic journey spans from Gujarat to Rajasthan, with sculptures shaped by childhood memories and diverse visual cultures. After experimenting with various materials, Patel found his true creative expression in cast metal, particularly bronze. His works explore the limits of the human body, symbolizing the spirit’s journey toward transcendence, and transform solid metal into fluid, expressive forms.
With over four decades of sculptural practice, Ankit Patel continues to create works that breathe life into everyday experiences, inviting viewers into a contemplative dialogue between form, movement, and human existence. He lives and works in Jaipur, India.
