ANAND BEKWAD
Anand M. Bekwad is a contemporary Indian artist known for his evocative watercolours and acrylics, through which he narrates the journey of water across diverse landscapes, particularly those of Madurai and Banaras. His works often present panoramic city views rendered as complete, finished compositions, capturing both the vibrancy and quiet poignancy of timeless urban and pastoral settings.
Born in Pune, Maharashtra, Anand obtained a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from Belgaum, Karnataka. His artistic language is defined by fluid line-work and vibrant splashes of colour, allowing movement, atmosphere, and emotion to flow seamlessly across the surface. Through these elements, he creates visual narratives that feel lyrical, immersive, and deeply connected to place.
Landscape and floral themes form the core of Anand’s practice. He began his journey painting landscapes before gradually gravitating toward florals and broader nature-based subjects. While he predominantly works with watercolour on paper, he prefers acrylic for floral compositions, using deep, rich hues to bring blooming forms, trees, and intertwining vines vividly to life.
Anand has participated in over 30 solo and group exhibitions, and his work is guided by a clear emotional intent. He aims to evoke joy, calm, and positivity, inviting viewers into spaces of balance and tranquility. With careful attention to colour mixing and measured brushstrokes, Anand emphasizes harmony in composition—believing that balance is central to both his process and artistic vision.
