RAHUL MHETRE
Rahul Jagannath Mhetre was born on 14 December 1974 and is a contemporary Indian painter whose work draws inspiration from the simplicity and clarity of traditional Indian visual language. His paintings are characterized by refined line work, flat colour tones, and balanced compositions that merge classical Indian aesthetics with contemporary themes.
He received his formal training in art with an A.T.D. from Kala Vyawsaya Kendra, Solapur (1996), a G.D. Art (Fine) from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune (2000), and a Diploma in Art Education from the same institution in 2001. Over the years, Mhetre has developed a visual style that harmonises traditional Indian artistic elements with modern sensibilities, allowing his works to reflect both cultural roots and contemporary narratives.
Rahul Mhetre has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, including shows organised by the Bombay Art Society, Art Society of India, Camlin Art Foundation, and international platforms such as ArtBook The Platform, Germany. He has held several solo exhibitions at prominent venues including Jehangir Art Gallery, Nehru Centre, Gallery Pradarshak, Leela Art Gallery, and Art Today Gallery, Pune. His career also includes duet shows, major group exhibitions across India, auctions, and national art camps in collaboration with cultural institutions and government-sponsored initiatives.
