DHARMENDRA RATHORE
Dharmendra Rathore was born in 1965 in Salari, Rajasthan, and is a prominent Indian contemporary artist whose work is deeply inspired by the colours, festivities, folk music, miniature traditions, and vibrant attire of Rajasthan. These early sensory experiences continue to inform his richly coloured visual language. He completed a Diploma in Painting with First Class from the Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur (1990), followed by an MFA from the Delhi College of Art, New Delhi (1993).
Rathore has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, with his works shown in Denmark, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Mauritius, and Romania. His art has featured in major exhibitions such as Harmony Show, Save the Children, The Joy of Life, and the First Biennale of Contemporary Art, Arad (2005). He has received several scholarships and honours from AIFACS, Rajasthan Biennial, State Lalit Kala Akademi, and a Fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. His deep technical engagement with art is also reflected in over a decade of work as an art restorer.
He has held multiple solo exhibitions at leading galleries including Jehangir Art Gallery, Bajaj Art Gallery, and Nehru Art Centre in Mumbai, as well as Shridharani Art Gallery, Vadhera Art Gallery, and Triveni Art Gallery in New Delhi.
